Today was my grandfather's funeral. I now only have one grandparent left. This was one of the roses in the spray on the casket at the cemetary -- you might know the drill. Say a couple prayers and ask the children, grandchildren and great-grand children if they would like to take a flower home with them.
My grandfather lived a very full life. He just turned 91 in the beginning of May and was in pretty good health - so he went quickly, which is a blessing. His name was Harold and he was a farmer for many, many years in southwestern Wisconsin. A kind and gentle man who liked to tease his grandchildren in a sweet and funloving way.
Our small family grew smaller today. It makes me sad.
